Re: 'City of Fresno'
Something doesn't ring true here. Please correct me where my assumptions are wrong, and the ring will probably true up quickly.... 1. 6,000 people on the ship, thereabouts? 2. Passenger lists and bios have been studied intensely looking for skills that can be used, if I recall correctly, by both our...

And something's dropped out of ONI's archives, posted on their website today Remember the Koni FF that was found adrift with the entire crew missing except for the cat? Apparently, the director of ONI sent a Polaroid of the cat, lounging on the bridge chart table like the ship is his personal yacht...

Re: Church on a road trip
Back when I was about 4 or 5, they moved a house in my grandmother's town. I convinced my grandmother to take me to watch the whole freakin thing. It was, to young me, one of the most impressive feats of engineering I could conceive of. I'm absolutely certain that she wanted nothing to do with it, b...

Another possibility is that the Chinese are waving the flag to keep the soviet far eastern forces at home. They may have made the decision that NATO weakened and triumphant is a better choice than the USSR weakened and triumphant, particularly since the Soviets are the ones on their border. Belushi TD

Re: Going to be in Savannah in September
Go figure. I moved away from Savannah last weekend after living there 18 years and now someone comes to visit  We took our son to Fort Jackson for a birthday party a couple years ago. If I remember it all right, took me an hour and a half or so to walk around and see stuff while the kids were ...

Going to be in Savannah in September
My wife and I are going to be in Savannah from September 13 to the 17th and I'm looking for ideas of stuff to do.
Anyone know how long Old Fort Jackson will take to see it all?

Agreed about Heinlein. But only if he's able to write in his spare time! However, the guy who was placed in charge of Arboreal Security on Johnson atoll actually made me laugh out loud. Also - The armaments program. Is this what they are projected to purchase this year, or during the decade? Or what...

My daughter and I went to see My Chemical Romance at Metlife Stadium. I can honestly say it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The crowd was electric and virtually every song was a singalong. Its certainly helped by the fact that MCR has not toured in something like 15 or so years so al...

I am particularly intrigued by the "Urdmer" case. I see what you did with the name, but what's an X classification? And why burn him at the stake within an hour of the conviciton?

I'm not sure I'd jump immediately to internal sabotage.
Marketing people are NOTORIOUS for being severely blinkered, and not knowing a whole lot of detailed knowledge outside their field. Would not at all suprise me that whoever was in charge was just outside their box, and ran with it.

That video was freakin hilarious!
In addition to the intended content, I'm highly amused to notice that just about every purportedly American flag they showed had a different number of stars, and none of them were more than 46, I think.

Most people don't have the time or the gumption to delve that deeply into the worlds they've created. Part of the problem is that if/when they do, things start to fray.

The only issue with that is the the Culinary Institute of America is a real culinary school with copious famed graduates: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Culinary_Institute_of_America I already have plans for it, separate to any jokes about Christians in Action. Oh, I can guarantee that the Society for the Preservation of Inshore Maritime Species (a subsidiary of the well known charity Christians in Action) would take such actions. They'd even be very careful to not disturb the molluscs by doing so in a loud or public manner, bless their little cotton sock...
