SecDef has just announced he is reducing the number of 3 and Four star politicians in uniform by 30% INITIALLY.

IMO, FWIW there is nothing a 3 or four star Admirals does can not be done adequately by a Rear Admiral Upper Half.

Oh, that's nowhere near true!

A 3 or 4 star admiral can, more than adequately, outrank a rear admiral upper half!

I think Halsey and Nimitz did pretty well.

(As long as you don’t count storm avoidance in the case of Halsey…. )
