Note: Largest vessel in Irish service; was the current flagship of the Irish Naval Service and is the only one capable of operating a helicopter. Was the final naval service vessel to be built in Ireland.

Note: The Irish Naval Service is planning a three to four vessel class of new OPVs to replace the Emer Class. These ships will start to be laid down in the early years of the next decade. The choice of name for the lead vessel for the class has been controversial, as although she will be named after a figure from Irish literary history, previously naval service vessels were named after women from Irish mythology. The naval service is also currently considering the procurement of a Multi-Role Vessel similar to the Royal New Zealand Navy’s HMNZS Gallipoli; naval service officers have visited New Zealand to evaluate the ship.
