I'm sorry, the only, ONLY, reasonable explanation for this horrid mess is that someone accidentally spilled red paint on this a day or so before the unveiling, and this was a rush job to fix it without having further delays... Otherwise the artist needs to go back to art school, my 3yo niece does be...

Sounds like a long-term solution would be to simply add a bittering agent to the insulation.

To be fair, the -X engine nozzle blew out 50m above the surface, and the craft adapted on the fly to come down on just the +X engine. The craft was meant to land on its side, but for some reason it messed up right at the last second and tilted over too soon. So nowhere near as bad as that failed NAS...

To be fair to the Navy, they did stick with the modern naming convention, States, for the most part, until they ran out of state names. Then they tried to make the switch back to fish. The last three just stink of politics messing about, sadly.

Because most of ULA's launches are for NRO and other three letter agencies, who don't like cameras pointed at their payloads, even shrouded as they are, so no cameras there. SLS is Boeing, who owns half of ULA, so that mindset sticks. For the rest, it's a matter of them not caring about the viewers ...
