New Game: "Naval Estimates".....

Short version - a browser-based game where you get to design new warships in the Dreadnaught era. (Think the old DOS-based 'Springstyles' with what appear to be some killer CAD-style graphics.) You design EVERYTHING about your ship, and then you get to figure out how to pay for the damn thing. Looks like it has potential. Whole thing is free.

Oh God, finally a game that allows you to build guns to be used on many designs. Still having a look at it, but I like what I'm seeing.

I wonder if it will eventually let me build the 18"/75 autocannon from TIPOTS...

Looked at it in more detail(and posted about it in the All the World's Battlecruisers forum) yesterday.

The game is essentially a Rule the Waves browser game. This has some implications. Theoretically, you can't build a design for your fictional country, just for one of the factions of the game(The Power of Imagination(TM) lets you go around this, though). Technology is also limited to what is available to you at the stated game year(and in the future, to what you can research). Also, you have to build something that fits one of the ship types available, no designing your great idea that fits no historical classification because no one had your genius to come up with it.

I find the mount/superstructure/funnel placement interface a bit cumbersome, but I am learning to deal with it slowly(as I can't spend too much time on this game for the foreseeable future), I also would rather have the option of being able to input dimensions and other things directly, as the game does have a range of possible results for most inputs and you control it by using sliders - I would rather learn by myself what works and what doesn't than being limited to what works by ship type.

I wish they had done a separate powerplant/machinery designer just like they did to weapons and their mounts(I will, in fact, suggest this in the game Discord server). BTW, you will have to design a few gun mounts(turrets, casemates, pedestal mounts) before designing your ship, as the ship design requires finished mounts to be placed.

Still, I think it's the best ship designer that I've recently seen, a definite improvement over what I've seen in Rule the Waves I and II. Not retiring Springsharp anytime soon, though, as both excel in different things.
