Not long back from seeing this in an IMAX theatre. I'm struggling to put together a review that is not just 'wow'. But, it really is a brilliant film. Emily Blunt and Colin Firth put in absolutely stand-out performances. Moreover, the rest of the cast are excellent too.
If you liked Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T, you will like this film. The time just flew by for me. Could I pick out flaws in it, sure. But, do I care about them? No.
Go see it. I don't think you'll regret it.

Re: Disclosure Day
Haven't seen and probably won't. No big reason, just doesn't interest me.
From what I've read of the plot to the movie I wouldn't say its progenitor isn't 'Close Encounters' or 'E.T.' its a miniseries Spielberg produced for the Sci-Fi channel in 2001. Same ideas about aliens having visited the Earth for awhile, Roswell, the government/corporations hiding the secret, humans taken by the aliens and sent back, and a pair of characters who could reveal the secret on the run from the bad dudes Also that the aliens, no matter what humans have done to them, keep coming and don't blow the planet up. In the miniseries its due to them breeding hybrid children to create one with their power and human concept called...emotions. The child they wanted so badly is played by a young, and adorable, Dakota Fanning.

Westray: That this is some sort of coincidence. Because they don't really believe in coincidences. They've heard of them. They've just never seen one.

Re: Disclosure Day
Bit disappointed really.....amongst the things I immediately thought was, the lets keep the secret safe with us guys were very two dimensional....not a helicopter to their name.
Re: Disclosure Day
I was underwhelmed. Spielberg techical prowess is great but the characters...eh. its not close encounters of the third kind.
Don't get me wrong, good movie, just not up to his best

Re: Disclosure Day
I went and saw it yesterday. I think it’s good and worth seeing, albeit not perfect. It strikes me as an attempt of a summary of what is put forward as the ”consensus” (to some degree) of the core elements of what is believed is being kept from the public by the government(s). Spielberg appears to be of the opinion that this is the direction in which the truth lies and intends the movie as a form of soft disclosure and preparation of the general public for potential actual disclosure.
For now it is a convinient summary of said core elements for anyone who wants to know what those are without delving deeper into the ”phenomenon” beliefs.
