Has anyone ordered anything off of Temu and if so, how was the quality?

I ordered a solar powered powerpack with a claimed capacity of something ridiculous. I measured it, reported the results back to them and they refunded my money (to my astonishment). It swelled up and died just recently.

My experience with Temu has been that if you need something cheap for a very limited application and you don't care if it works afterwards, then you may still get screwed.

I have done a lot of stuff with the girl scouts, and we frequently need small items. As long as we're ok with the items breaking the second or third time we used them, it was usually ok.

However, there have also been instances where the label on the box was OBVIOUSLY not intended for what was in the box. Getting refunds has been spotty.

So far it confirms my opinion of Temu.

The reason I asked, is I keep hearing X if the Temu version of Y.

In the crafts community Temu is used as an insult. "My loom's header broke" "Shouldn't have bought it off Temu"

I looked briefly at Temu, and decided I didn't want them to know I even existed.

Based on my brother-in-law, it's subject to extremely wide variability in quality. Sometimes it's decent, sometimes it's good, and sometimes it just needs to be unboxed and dropped in the trash. Until you get it, there's no knowing. But, if you want a $40 electric chainsaw and don't mind the risk, you can get it there.

Absolutely, and I stress this very much, do not be buying any life safety items from there. Car jacks, jack stands, fall protection harnesses, lifting straps, chains, or anything else that may cause a significant hazard to life or limb if it fails. The risk is just not worth it.

On the other hand I used to buy all my Arduino clones from AliExpress, and was 100% satisfied.

I've had good luck in the past with AliExpress for things like car accessories (cupholders, wheel covers, floor mats, etc) and toys for my son. I wouldn't buy anything off there that needs to connect to my home network or that is safety-critical.

Temu has always struck me as "unbelievably cheap utter crap that is somehow dodging shipping and taxes". Like shirts that fall apart after being worn three times 9r toys that break in five minutes.

Maybe it's reaching a point in my life where I can afford better things, maybe I've just reached saturattion, or maybe it's the impending pay cut I'm about to take, but lately I'm much more apt to buy less and spend more to support small local businesses and such than People's State Factory #9.

My wife has ordered from Temu but not any more. Junk, junk, junk. Not only that, she had her debit card number compromised a couple times, thank God for Navy Federal Credit Union, they caught it and called her, reversed the bogus charges, and refunded the money. They would send through a small charge to see if it worked, ten or twelve dollars, then post a larger one for a hundred or so a couple days later. NFCU caught the larger one both times, and blocked it. She had to get new debit cards though. We aren't positive it was compromised through Temu but that is the only place she has bought online besides Amazon. So beware, check your bank daily. No more Temu for us.
