My daughter and I went to see My Chemical Romance at Metlife Stadium.
I can honestly say it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The crowd was electric and virtually every song was a singalong. Its certainly helped by the fact that MCR has not toured in something like 15 or so years so all the fans were out. The bit for this tour is to reprise The Black Parade tour, and after they played that album from beginning to end, they had a cellist come on for about 15 or 20 minutes and did an amazing solo for the whole time while they were changing outfits for the second half of the show. The second part was a selection of the most popular songs off their other albums, and they might as well have asked my daughter what songs she wanted them to play.
There were two types of people in attendance, in my opinion. There's the older crowd, middle aged, who were of age when they hit the scene big with The Black Parade in 2006, and there was the younger crowd, around my daughter's age (Late teens, early 20's) who have come to know MCR through their phones. Amazing how the groups came together, and how polite everyone was.
The opening act was Thursday, whom I've never heard of and sort of looked and sounded like they were middle aged guys who were a little over the hill, and absolutely thrilled to be playing MetLife stadium, since they're far more used to playing basement bars and such. The second act was Death Cab For Cutie, who turned out to be much better than I was anticipating.
There's still several dates on the tour, so if you're close enough and have the time and the means, I highly recommend going to see them.
