I think these have been mentioned on the board at some point in the past, but there’s survival condos in a converted ICBM silo in Kansas. There’s a pretty decent walkthrough video of the complex available here: https://youtu.be/w8FO9cMKyOU
My thoughts after watching it is that it’s a surprisingly well thought through, engineered, and generally pleasant solution. As far as survival bunkers go this is probably one of the ones you could realistically spend the longest amount of time in before going nuts. I would say that it potentially has got a few issues depending on the scenario it is faced with, such as I wonder at the maximum earthquake (or equivalent nuclear detonation shakes) the installed equipment could take before piping and such shakes to bits. But overall this isn’t bad, and even though it’s said to have cost $30 million to build that’s almost surprisingly little for what it is.

Re: Survival condos
....The issue here is that, knowing the way the Russians make war there's a significantly non-zero chane they still have a warhead pointed at it .....just to be on the safe side.Micael wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 4:17 pm I think these have been mentioned on the board at some point in the past, but there’s survival condos in a converted ICBM silo in Kansas. Yes, that’s perhaps a major downside of the location. But I suppose that in one of the other apocalypse scenarios other than a nuclear exchange the bunker could have some relevance.MikeKozlowski wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 5:24 pm....The issue here is that, knowing the way the Russians make war there's a significantly non-zero chane they still have a warhead pointed at it .....just to be on the safe side.Micael wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 4:17 pm I think these have been mentioned on the board at some point in the past, but there’s survival condos in a converted ICBM silo in Kansas.
