Walking boots - growing pensioner adjacent

So 5 years back I bought some lovely Meindl boots. Absolutely fantastic. Tried to put them on yesterday. No. Or rather yes but my toes were crammed into the ends and they pressed down on the toe knuckles. I managed a 4 km stroll hoping boot would fit foot or vice versa. Swear words were aired.

So today I tried a few different boots and it would appear that my feet have flattened by 4 euro size or 2 imperial sizes (I knew this of course, but for some reason hoped walking boots were different). So no more posh boots, just fake leather Hi Tecs and Seal socks. We're off to Dartmoor for 3 weeks of family stuff, ancient woods, stone rows and stone circles. And bogs. Lots of bogs. And pubs.
