No way Shipmate.

Pray you and your noble clan are all doing well.

Seriously I tried to send you a PM but I am too recently registered to have that privilege yet.

Listening to Moby Dick right now and drinking French Brandy spiked coffee, that has effected my prose! ;)

What say you about Nov 8th failure of the RED WAVE to break upon our ship of state?
Your party has rescued the House, just. Good on them.

What chance do you give Herschel for Senate ?

" House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) announced that she will remain in Congress but will not run for re-election as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
So I wonder if we have rid the Devil we know for the devil we don't? Does this mean the Maoist fanatics like AOC and her "Squatting" fellows will now wrest control of the DemOrat party?

What make you of this from NATIONAL REVIEW
"As liberal as Pelosi’s record was, however, she also had a pragmatic streak and attempted to walk the more radical elements of her party back from the ledge. During the Bush era, she fought back efforts by progressives to “defund” the Iraq War, fearing that it would backfire by making Democrats come off as anti-troop. During the Obamacare fight, she helped persuade progressives to vote for a final version of the bill that did not include a public option. In recent years, she has repeatedly been dismissive of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her “squadmates.” She also deserves credit for being a good friend of Taiwan, highlighted by her courageous visit to Taipei earlier this year.

That said, her efforts to rein in the extremists in her party have had diminishing returns. When Representative Ilhan Omar tried to make herself a victim after unleashing a series of antisemitic statements, Pelosi backed off taking action against her, and instead passed a watered-down resolution aimed at condemning hate more broadly to help take the heat off Omar. Pelosi also couldn’t prevent the House Progressive Caucus from holding Biden’s signature Build Back Better social-spending agenda hostage rather than just agreeing to whatever Senator Joe Manchin was willing to vote for
........................... . . .

Nancy Pelosi is a liberal who advanced liberal policies, but relatively speaking, she was also more pragmatic than the younger, more extreme elements within the party. Though we don’t mourn her stepping down, without her at the helm, Democrats may have even fewer guardrails to prevent the party’s continued leftward drift

It is my pleasure to join with my HPCA friends Stu would be proud of our Craig and so am I.

I have found another ship which is both a home and a feed for my black soul :) , crewed by good very knowledgeable friends and with a taught handed but very fair skipper. We are very lucky to have him running the ship.

This is not a threat yet but maybe a promise. If you folks should Piss me Off too much, I am of a mind to torture you with my literary efforts. You have Lordroel for encouraging me to scribbling to thank for this possible horror.

Poor Matthew is The Patron Saint of we bean counters

Post by OSCSSW »

Just had to share this one with you folks. As you know after the Nav was done with me; I made my living in Venture Capital and the energy industry as a Senior Accountant/FA MBA. I just learned something that cracked me up.

The Patron saint of we bean counters is Matthew. We have to share him with others of our Ilk like tax collectors, bankers, customs officers and security guards. I wonder how many tight assed, arrogant CPAs I have had the dubious pleasure of working with would like being compared to Security Guards in the eyes of God? Not many I'd wager!
