The man seemed ageless. He seemed to be a really nice guy as well. Damn.

Very sad to see his passing.

The last several years have been pretty awful with so many gone

Damn sad. Read his autobiography a while back and he had quite the life. Brought some real talent to the small and big screen. Can’t imagine ST: TNG working with out him.

It is sad. I saw the news and was very much hoping it was a fake.

However, we are also more fortunate than our forebearers, especially when it comes to the men and women who have brought life to people who never were and desperately deserve to be.

One of the amazing parts of life in the twenty-first century is that we have drastically expanded the ability to still experience the people we have lost through the power of video and photographs.

While this doesn’t diminish the sense of loss, it does make it easier for their legacy to continue. So, while Sir Patrick has died, Picard and Professor X will continue to live - as children born long after he has died get to experience the characters he brought to life for the first time, and those who have seen his work before discover new wrinkles upon rewatching.

Which is pretty incredible, and for which we are incredibly fortunate.

His passing has touched me significantly more than that of other celebrities.
I am genuinely sad right now.

For those that perhaps did not watch Star Trek:Picard, and for those who want to see this again, this is the final farewell scene for the TNG cast in the finale:

It was a fitting end.

Indeed. Thanks for posting that.

ST:P was a little uneven at times, but S3 made up for everything and that scene in particular.

It’s a beautiful homage to the last scene in All Good Things, and probably the least bit of acting needed because it is literally just the friendship the cast built and maintained over the last almost forty years on display. And that is what makes it so incredible.

There’s been a flood of condolences from people who knew and worked with him. Perhaps the most illustrative of how close the TNG cast was to one another is a video message by Marina Sirtis, who is crying and struggling her way through it:

Among the written ones you’ll find below one from Ian McKellen, one of his closest friends, which as expected is eloquently put, as well as one from Isa Briones which can illustrate how appreciated he was by young talents in the beginning of their careers.
