They’d know that Lakenheath was the base for the 47th Tactical Fighter Wing prior to the war.

The Soviets picked up the redeployment from the UK to the States. Some of the "Peace" types who occasionally picketed the base were found out to be assets for the Soviets, along with other sources like satellite recon and scanning the media.

I think that’s a B-52D.

Not complaining about it! I’m pretty sure B-52Ds did EASTERN EXPRESS runs in addition to the WWIII edition of ARC LIGHT…

They did. SAC liked having Ds with the Big Belly mods to put 108 500-lb bombs on target.

Did SAC ever figure out a similar modification for the G/H models?

There were some proposals kicked around at March, but the needs of the G/H force with what they had available: aircraft needed for nuclear alert, EASTERN EXPRESS missions, and even replacement crew training meant the airframes couldn't be upgraded. They were just too badly needed.

OOC: I simply said what model I thought it was (B-52D) and stating that I thought that model did EASTERN EXPRESS alongside missions supporting friendly forces, and Matt confirmed it. I’m calling this one hard canon.

Future South African President Nelson Mandela voting in a provincial election in 1988. Non-white voters were given the right to vote in local and provincial elections in 1987. However, they did not gain the right to vote in national general elections until 1992. The first general election to be held under universal suffrage took place between 26th and 29th April 1994.

OOC: did the ANC not have the Soviet Union as its most important international benefactor during the anti-apartheid struggle, providing crucial military, financial, and educational support for three decades from 1961 to 1991, so if World War III starts in 1985 and the South African Border War was still ongoing, how would they try to distance themself from the Soviets, heck the Greens in Europe here where full of suporters of the Soviets, see no other reason why the ANC was any difference here.
