In the USA market if you divide the cost of a new base Toyota Camry by the median full time wage in 2005 and 2025 you find that the alarmism about car prices is overdone. Same with F150. Admittedly they aren't getting much cheaper because they have a bunch more expensive stuff in them. In Australia in 1990 a new Falcon was 25k, median wage was 25k. In 2022 when I bought my Everest (4wd suv) retail was 72k, median wage was 80k. Now you can argue whether an Everest is a better car than the base Falcon, but it does at least have 4more speakers, an unknown number of airbags, and uses substantially less fuel. It can of course tow 3500 kg.
