Turns out yesterday hit 35.5 Celsius. Wisley again.

Then 35.2 Celsius at Coton-in-the-Elms.

That matches the total number of days in 1976 which were above 32 Celsius, although the consecutive 15 day record is still nowhere near being threatened. The above 34 Celsius and above 35 Celsius days for that year have already been broken.

Up here in coastal NW UK, garden was still ~~25ºC at 0400 local.

Okay, that was significantly cooler than house interior but, despite clear sky and a pretty crescent Moon, 'Flat Calm'.

Even with doors, windows open and sundry fans running, a ghastly-ish [REDACTED] 'Air Fryer'.

At least the temperature continued to fall, albeit too slowly. By 0930, when outside temperature on shaded side again exceeded interior's now 'Low Twenties', the dehumidifier had dragged air down from cloying 75% to mere 58%.

This was so very, very welcome, let me get an essential, un-troubled nap, re-boot my broiled wits.

I did not think I'd be posting a 'Fresno' chapter today. Day after day, between heat, humidity, anti-histamines and broken sleep, words had simply refused to flow. Then, this morning, after brunch, they did...

Today about a hour ago as the sun was yet to dip far low against the horizon, in a still shady position my outdoor thermometer showed the day's peak.
40 degrees C

A stark difference to the now shady other side of my house were the temperature was 29.8.

Fortunately we've managed the windows correctly today.

I'm glad I wasn't at work today yet even so, I had to dip my feet in a bowl of water.

Now the dusk comes and outside that same thermometer reads 30 C.

My AC crapped out last week. Wonder boy the tuneup man never bothered to check the error log when he did his tune up 2 days before the heat began

So a sixth day in a row above 32 Celsius for the second time this year. A 16th day in total.

Decent chance we'll beat 32 Celsius again tomorrow. 7th day in a row and 17th in total this year.

Well wherever it is has done it again: 32.6 Celsius.

So that's 7 days in a row over 32 Celsius and 17 in total.

Today looks like that streak could be broken. However things warm up again tomorrow and Wednesday and Thursday also look pretty warm as well.

NW UK = A temporary respite:
Over-night, wondrously cool. Managed to sleep fairly well.
This morning stayed at 20ºC with a pleasant breeze.
Sadly, even with 40cm air-mover fan roaring at top of stairs, has not yet dissipated week-end's 'heat soak'...

Ive been using an exhaust fan on the second floor to bring indoor temp from 34C down to a respectable 24C for a couple of weeks now. Basement dweller daytime

The streak of over 32 Celsius stopped as yesterday saw 30.1. However wherever it is was the hottest weather station for the third day in a row.

Since then things have still remained over 30 Celsius and likely will today. After that temperatures will fall a few degrees further.

The records for over 32 Celsius and over 30 Celsius are 19 and 34 days respectively, both set in 1995. This year we are at 17 and 27 so far. By the end of today it will likely be 17 and 28.

Well schools have finished for the term so the weather should change.

Well yesterday and Friday were still full summer heat with barely a cloud. But as of last evening cloud is back and today it's much more tolerable. The power is definitely down a notch..

Even energising now. Feels like I can get things done!

It's definitely come back down to something like normal summer weather now. Still warm, but nowhere near as hot as it has been.

We'll have to see if there will be another heatwave this year, or if that's it for the really hot weather?

Well August can get very hot and humid. Very stuffy on still days out come the flying ants.

The Seagulls go crazy for the ants.

It will depend on the cloud cover at night.
Too much cloud acts as a blanket keeping heat in. The less cloud the easier the nights get.
