The Onion
I'm not sure what this means, but I saw The Onion in my local Barnes and Noble.

They've been printing and selling their online articles for decades. I think the first set of books I got was in 2005 or so? Maybe 2003? They were lost in Hurricane Irene, when my area got 12 inches of rain in 12 hours.

They may have stopped doing dead tree printing for a while. Thinking back, I had the Onion soft cover books when I moved to Alaska in 2003. So its been a thing.
I don't spend time in bookstores anymore, unless I'm taking my kids. The temptation to spend a paycheck is VERY difficult to overcome.

At one time I would have agreed with you. Problem many of favorite authors have stopped writing on this plane of existence, series taken over by other authors, or have done one too many boring books. If I go into a bookstore, I'm checking on the magazine rack or looking for a specific title.Belushi TD wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2026 12:34 pm They may have stopped doing dead tree printing for a while. Hmmm.... I see your point. Fortunately, I've not had unfettered access to a bookstore since about 2004, before I got engaged. Not that the sci-fi stuff was better then, but they did have a lot of older stuff in print, which was just delightful.
