Been checking in here for quite awhile, haven't been active for some years. Found out today one of my Legion comrades passes, and a few short hours later, one of the forum members, Rich Hunt (1BigRich) passed last year. I searched for months for his address when we noticed his absence over on the Pre-Dreadnought and Battlecruiser forum. Found it just moments ago and then managed to discover his obituary.
Growing older is a blessing, many do not have that opportunity. Shipmates from my youth, school friends, family, all passing before us, it's an odd feeling. I've seen violent death, messy, bloody, from my military career. It's different though, regarding those who go before us when all is peaceful in our lives. The internet, which allows us to make friends we never see, is a double edged sword, in that they may pass and we are unaware of it. Nonetheless, it leaves a hole in our being.
Rich was a kind and generous soul. He sent me a large box of his unbuilt 1/2400 warship miniatures, as we shared a mutual interest in naval matter. He, Dick Baker and I often emailed each other, telling tales, bitching, musing on the state of the world. So, tonight Comrades, I splice the mainbrace, and hoist a few for fallen comrades and friends.

Here’s to you and all the friends who are no longer with us.
