"Wednesday"....
...If you haven't seen this yet, hie thyself to thy TV, turn on Netflix, and be prepared to laugh yourself silly.
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), and yes - from that Addams Family - has had some issues fitting in at several schools. I won't reveal the incident that gets her 86'd from public school once and for all, but I will say it's pretty damned inventive. Just about at the end of her rope, Gomez (Juan Guzman) and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) decide to send her to their old alma mater, Nevermore Academy. Which is where the fun starts.
With Tim Burton directing, the show hits every single note perfectly. Ortega is the dictionary definition of snark pretty much through the entire series, while Zeta-Jones - you'll pardon the expression - slays it as Morticia. Guzman is pretty good as Gomez, definitely nailing the look of Charles Addams' cartoons, but he doesn't quite do the part with the gusto we've come to expect from Gomez. The rest of the original characters all show up, and two of them play delightful parts in the proceedings. Gwendoline Christie is wonderful as the school principal, and Christina Ricci shows up as another supporting character. The show is refreshingly free of cultural nonsense, and Burton preserved the best part of the movies: the fact that this family may have issues (Boy, do they have issues) but they love one another and they will do anything to protect each other.
It's creepy fun about 2/3rds of the way through, and then it takes a turn for the dark before the big finish which in turn leaves everything open for another season. It's popularity can best be described by this number: since it premiered on November 23, the show has equaled 322 MILLION hours of viewing time.
5 stars out of five, and the best thing Netflix has done in a while.

Re: "Wednesday"....
Thanks for the review and heads-up.
I‘ll definitely give this a good look.
Meanwhile I am waiting for season 2 of "Reacher" and "The Terminal List".

I binge watched it last evening, great show. So many quirky and amusing moments. Jenna Ortega’s deadpan deluvery is on point, and Emma Myers’ colorful and bubbly Enid acts as a good contrast to it.
Now where’s season 2 at…

Just watched episode 1.
I really liked it. It’s fan-service but does that very well.
Most actors are very well cast, Jenna Ortega and Gwendolyn Christie especially. Some others maybe not so much.

Got the thumbs up from Mrs Warship, but she did spend most of the episode saying 'not as good as Lucifer'. An interesting theological point.

Someone got a Wednesday tattoo, or rather ”Hi there Samuel L. Jackson.”

Re: "Wednesday"....
I’ve started watching season 2. Haven’t gotten that far into it yet but it’s looking like a good match for season 1 this far.
Re: "Wednesday"....
Okay, I actually had time to binge through the rest today. Very good season, if you liked the first season definitely watch this too.
Best new addition is Evie Templeton as Agnes. Superb character and portrayal by Evie (who was only 15 when they shot this!).
There’s a definite highlight in the form of

Re: "Wednesday"....
I've seen parts of Wednesday, and it is very good. The thing I have a real issue with is the casting and characterization of Gomez Addams. Luis Guzman is nowhere near what John Astin and Raul Julia did with the role.
Re: "Wednesday"....
Agreed, but I don’t think it has a major impact on the show as his role is a minor one, fortunately.
