Not sure why the Eagle driver would get the callsign. Unless your guy’s seat selectors work a lot differently than ours, the pilot cannot eject the rear seat without also leaving a fraction of a second later. The rear seat dude absolutely can eject himself though while leaving the pilot OR ejecting both.

So it should be the back seater who gets the entertaining callsign.

Of course, callsigns aren’t always “deserved”.

Passengers ejecting themselves has been done a few times. I can recall a couple of USN events. One was an NFO student at Pensacola in VT-10 a few months before I got there. (The board decided that duties not involving flight operations would be the best career path for the student). Another was a cruiser skipper getting a fam flight prior to deployment. He DID get an entertaining callsign, although I don’t recall what it was.

....All humor aside, the pax was fortunate in another way - there have been serious issues and at least one death due to substandard/counterfeit parts issues in the ACES II supply chain. I hate to think what we'd be talking about if he'd have ridden the seat back down.

It depends a lot on the circumstances, and especially how much of his fate was his fault.

Having reviewed a lot of really awful ways to die as part of efforts to keep people alive and in one piece, sometimes you absolutely have to laugh or make light of fatal circumstances, for your own self-preservation and sanity.
