The Thin Pinstriped Line blog has an interesting article about a planned operation by the British armed forces to evacuate citizen from Uganda in 1972. That was when Idi Amin began expelling Ugandans of Indian descent from the country. Britain wanted to have a plan in place in case to remove the British citizens in case Amin refused to let them go. It was to be an all British operation and in the end, the chiefs couldn't recommend that it be used due to the logistics and lack of resources.
