Well I missed an opportunity

This week is half-term holiday where we live (other regions of the U.K. may vary) and we took the opportunity to actually have a honeymoon, and combine it with some “autumn sunshine”. Being the adventurous sort we came straight back to the same place we had our main summer vacation- we liked it that much.

Turkey- specifically near Marmaris.

Well, 29th October is their Republic Day. Today is their 102st anniversary.

In Marmaris Bay, the TCG GAZIANTEP, formerly FFG-16, USS Clifton Sprague (OHP), was open all day to the public.

And I bloody well missed it.

In the interest of continued conjugal relations, I declined a carefully planned visit to Ft William dive centre and its 'Newt Suit' ambient rig....

No Good Deed going un-punished, my beloved wife's 'monthlies' promptly cycled early, she spent several days miserably huddled in bed. I supplied 'tea and sympathy', stayed within shouting distance...

I did however get an opportunity to visit the Sultan’s Palace in Istanbul.

Stunning wasn’t the word.

Huge might be the word.
