The negative waves finally overtook him.

That makes Clint the last of Recce Platoon, 35th ID … I wonder if he remembers where the hold is buried?

Sutherland told a story often about during the making of 'Kelly's Heroes' Clint Eastwood took him outside to tell him some sad news about his then wife. She had been arrested by the FBI for trying to buy hand grenades for the Black Panthers. The FBI was certain they had a good case because she had tried to pay the undercover agent with a personal cheque. Sutherland said that when Eastwood got to the part about the cheque Eastwood was laughing so hard he collapsed to his knees and he had to be helped up.
Westray: That this is some sort of coincidence. Because they don't really believe in coincidences. They've heard of them. They've just never seen one.

Past oddball, I remember him quite fondly in number of roles.....invasion of the body snatchers, great train robbery, space cowboys....many more.

Top notch talent here....will be sorely missed.

RIP Oddball! No more negative waves where you are buddy.

I loved the Great Train Robbery!

He was also the original Hawkeye Pierce.

Fair winds and following seas to Sutherland.
Thanks for the amusement

My favorite Sutherland characters were:
1. IRA Man Liam Devlin in The Eagle Has Landed

FWIW, I knew an old IRA man Named Liam McBrine when I was kid back in Gloucester. He was the Gand father of one of my school buddies. Quite a man even in his mid 70's. He was absolutely hated by his Daughter in law who called him a murdering "Right Godless Bastard" but to we pre teen boys his stories about the "Boyos" and the fact he shared his Whiskey with us made him a real hero. Like Sutherland's IRA man my Liam was at war with the British Empire. He hated the "Provos" as gutless commie scum.

I asked my father about the IRA and he said to me. "The original IRA were no different the Sons of Liberty" and like our own they took on the mighty British Army and they had to also fight their own Tories. or words to that effect.

2. Odd Ball in Kelly's Heroes
3. The Prof in Aninal House
4. Mr. X in JFK

These are his "Ribbons" ;)
