Something fun from the military world
Something fun from the military world
I’ve been off to a military exercise for a few days, and something pretty funny may or may not have occurred during said exercise.
You see there’s this staff sergeant, he’s great and all that, it’s just that sometimes he gets ideas. The kind of ideas that will cause officers to develop involuntary twitches if they happen to become aware of them. So during this exercise he allegedly had one of his ideas, and we’ll let the contents of that remain a mystery. As you may have guessed a mid-level officer became privy to the details of said idea and what had transpired. As a result the good staff sergeant found himself dragged into a room before an assortment of mid-level officers whereupon he was handed two pencils. He was then instructed to insert them into his nostrils far enough that they stayed there, and then stand at attention and repeatedly proclaim ”my name is Piggy Piggsley and I’m a f*cking idiot” until he was finally dismissed and the matter was considered closed. Allegedly.
I thought some of you, especially those with a military background, might find this a bit amusing.

Check any junior officers in his sphere. I sense danger.

They forgot the underwear. Have to remember the underwear.

Well I could have snapped a photo of his vivid reenactment for us, while he exclaimed ”look at the humiliation I have to endure just because you lot are so bad at lying”. But that might perhaps not have been appreciated.

Re: Something fun from the military world
Actually I see that they’ve revised the rank translations into English yet again so it should say ”Master Sergeant” in the posts above. I remain a lowly ”Sergeant”.

As long as he didn't have his underpants on this head and responding with " Wibble" to everything.
Then he's safe from a summary execution....

{Cough... }
Catch-22 ??
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch-22_(logic)
"You mean there's a catch?"
"Sure there's a catch," Doc Daneeka replied. "Catch-22. Anyone who wants to get out of combat duty isn't really crazy."
There was only one catch, and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind.
Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions.
Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane, he had to fly them.
If he flew them, he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to, he was sane and had to.
Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.

There's a lot of it about...
Classic civilian example is the way banks prefer to lend money to people who don't really need it.
Or, um, appear not to need it...
Which is the closest I'll go to expressing my [REDACTED] position on that aspect of Trump finances...
