Under The Heading Of, 'A Good Day'....

Post by MikeKozlowski »

...My IPMS chapter is running a show this weekend, and I volunteered to help set things up. As it turned out, I was partnered up with the other two USAF guys in the club - a B-52 pilot who flew airborne alert, and an F-100 driver who thought his life wasn't exciting enough, so he volunteered for RANCH HAND.

And at 64, I was the kid on the team.

It was amazing how the three of us fell into the routine of, "Let's look at this - plan it - do it" like we'd been stationed together our entire careers - and even more fun to listen to the two of them...well, question the skill, knowledge, and occasionally the sanity of our leadership. ;) (And a note; after a couple hours of that, I had no doubt whatsoever that LTC Hamilton had flown fighters :D )

And our security (the county facility where we are at requires it or we pay for off duty PD) is former 82 ABN, while the party responsible for getting the tables is a retired USN Chief.

Oh, almost forgot: the Corps was represented there too. Good man; did a tour in-country during Vietnam. He oversaw everybody else. ;) No heartburn there, actually, I figure he earned the privelege.

So - finishing my coffee, getting over there to help the last vendors set up, and then the next 12 hours or so on my feet to include judging and then tearing everything down and cleaning up per the request of Lexington County, SC, in all its power and majesty. Will catch up later and hopefully with pics.
