Good chapter!

So Soviet specops in Hokkaido, or just dispersed SNI/VDV?

I think the credibility of OPLAN Lehman depends on how well the Soviets can put together the intel pieces and how good those pieces are.

Are Nix and Mills in contact with any higher authority?

Keep up the good work!

@Bernard - An excellent chapter as ever; thanks to all involved.

Was I the only one who could "see" the opening scene from "GoldenEye" with the KGB at the missile factory?

Matt Wiser wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2024 1:55 am Whoo-hoo! It lives! BZ to Bernard and Jotun, and nice job. And on to business at hand:

Soviet Stragglers in Hokkaido will still cause trouble as long as they can. It'll take a while to clean them up.

Could the self-appointed masters of Maskirovka fall for one? Operation LEHMAN might just be the real deal. The Soviets have to consider both possible outcomes....

Aussies taking care of business in regards to Ambon Island.... That island has bad memories for the Australians, namely, massacres at Laha Airfield of Australian and Dutch POWs in Feb 42 are at the top of that list.

The NATO stay-behinds in West Berlin are going to have to start "Liberating" supplies from the enemy before too long, looks like.

One hell of a bang in Moscow.... Recovering from that will take some time.

Armor pushing across the IGB... A Thunder Run might be a good idea-until those two Tank Armies come into play.

Good work, both of you, and get with 371!
More importantly, the specs and source code for Raduga's missile designs just got sent to NATO.

Gonna make it easier to kill said missiles.
What missiles did they make? <looks at the list on Wiki> And the Soviets possibly don't know the data is in the wild. :o

Oh dear....

Just about all of their heavy anti-ship missiles.

I absolutely forgot to have the lone wolf fry Raduga's mainframe and internal network. But the explosion should have done much of the work anyway.

James1978 wrote: Mon Mar 18, 2024 4:16 amWell . . . there are apparently plenty of cruise missile about of the air and sea launched variety.
Yes, that is true. Though, for the moment, a lot of those cruise missiles are going to be suspect until they've been checked.
James1978 wrote: Mon Mar 18, 2024 4:16 amBut there is an interesting question as to how closely held/secured Soviet chemical munitions are.
I would hope they are well secured. Fortunately, NATO is well prepared for CW.

We don't know at the moment. It's something that the JGSDF will find out.

There are some things that the US can do to reinforce its credibility. I won't say what those are...yet. ;)

They have a satellite radio, but its battery life is running out.

Sorry that I didn't include anyone jumping off a cliff and somehow catching up with a plane.

MKB Raduga is a really important design and manufacturing bureau. As I've mentioned in response to one of James' comments, the Soviets can't trust a lot of its products. They will have to examine a great many missiles to make sure they have not been sabotaged. Not to mention losing the facility itself is a heavy blow.

Thanks very much, Mark. I did forget to thank you for the inspiration behind the latter Ambon scene.

Any other production facilities for those missiles besides Raduga?
The difference between diplomacy and war is this: Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so elegantly that they pack for the trip.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.

Difficult to say. I can‘t imagine there to be that much interchangeabiliy.

There do seem to be/have been a lot of design bureaus and the like, each more or less specializing in a category of missiles, and each being the One Big Facility that seems to be one of the major quirks of Socialist/Communist governments…

I may be wrong, however.
