...Also still with us is Arthur MacArthur IV - son of GA Douglas MacArthur and grandson of LTGen Arthur MacArthur, Jr, who was awarded the MOH for his actions at Missionary Ridge, TN.

In 1863.

History was just yesterday, friends.

I thought MacArthur's son changed his name to hide from the public, he should be in his mid 80s now.

Bob,

Yeah, 85 now - apparently he wasn't even confirmed to be at his mother's funeral in 2000.

A truly sad story - apparently GA MacArthur was a genuinely devoted but utterly overbearing father, and like everything else in his life he overdid it to the point where almost as soon as Arthur IV was able to, he got out. Lad got a world class education, and was by all accounts an extremely talented musician, but he wanted nothing to do with his family legacy. He seems to have made a very good living at whatever he did; he lived at the old Mayflower Hotel in NYC until it became condos in 2004 and as it overlooked Central Park, it weren't cheap. Maybe we can hope that he's written all of this down and when the time comes it'll add to the history.
