The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece, by Mr Hanks

Tom Hanks is a nice guy by most accounts and has appeared in some good movies. Now he's written a 'novel' about making a movie. A subject I imagine he knows well. Unfortunately apart from 2 dickheads (one of whom gets redeemed) the entire crew of this movie are cardboard cutout problem solvers. The director is skilled and wise and calm, the leading lady is gorgeous, wise and calm, and so it goes. The writing is good, but there are some weird statements, Gump like in their folksy charm, yet100% wrong."Like kerosene on a carburetter". Um yeah? Good for getting grease off the outside but it'd stop a gasoline engine dead. And his definition of a Macguffin is 100% wrong.

One review described it as a bit like a lesser Ron Howard film, technically fine, but missing that spark.
