Sweden came play to win, and the US didn't.

Still Congrats.

Good. I had the feeling that the USWNT was kinda expecting to just turn up down under (and NZ) and snatch up the champions' trophy, by divine right or something, much like the Brazilian men’s team back in '14. The arrogance was palpable. I also cannot stand Megan Rapinoe. Not for her politics of sexuality or activism, those are acceptable. She just seems to be so fucking FULL of herself. I can‘t stand arrogant star athletes, no matter where they keep their reproductive organs.

Yeah, I have not liked the coverage I've seen here in the US. It seems like everyone in the press (or at least those who were covering the women's world cup) were of the opinion that the US was destined to win, and all the ladies had to do was show up and the power of 'Merica! would carry the day.

Anyway, congrats to Sweden! Hope they go all the way. Its always made me feel a little less bad when the team that beat my team goes on to win the championship.

Can't stand how this USWNT coverage had turned into all Rapinoe, all the time. Like there aren't a bunch of other players there.

At this point, my favorite to go all the way is Japan. Somewhat underrated, but also the only team to go through the Group stage without any yellow or red cards. The USWNT had five, just below the three teams with six.

Basic common sense rule in India is if you are representing the country, you have to be thankful for it and love it in at least a basic common minimum capacity.

If you are a self-obsessed ingrate, find another job....you have no business representing our country.

That is made crystal clear from the early stages so no ingrates make their way to the top somehow.

The dystopia in the West continues regarding these basics.

At least in the US, the more sports teams get political, the more they lose their customer base. Given the expense to go to games for a family, that's stupid.

As an aside, I disagree about the Brazilian Men's Team in 2014. That team was so unsure of itself they crumpled when they faced a team that was good (although one they should theoretically been able to face in equal terms), and they saw their psyching up for the match failed. The team that was expecting to just show up and snatch the title was the 2006 Men's Team.

But yes, the US Women's team did show all the signs of what we call 'high heels' in this World Cup.
