Re: Space force
It kind of reminds me of a West Point uniform.
Re: Space force
I was sure the hat, at least, was an April Fool's joke, but ther are other photos of him wearing it. The Horror!
Re: Space force
The hat has been around since at least May 2021.

What. The. Actual. F*&K?????
Why on Earth are the star trek communicators doing around the hat just above the brim?
Do any of the other forces have something at that location on their hats?

Re: Space force
Why is his jacket a lancer/ cavalry-inspired plastron type? How often will Space Force errr spacers (?!!?) need to ride down opposing enemy infantry squares?Belushi TD wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 3:14 pm What. The. Actual. F*&K?????

I’ve never seen any uniform peaked cap with anything around the hatband but tartan or Sillitoe (ok another type of tartan). It just looks like a committee of 6yo Trekkies designed it.

Heh.
Another thing I just noticed... He appears to have a similar pin on both sides of his chest. Look almost like pasties.

Re: Space force
those are staff badges. When on a HQ staff you wear that staff badge, and take it off when you depart EXCEPT for the Joint Staff one which you wear permanently. Hence, his wearing the JS badge on his left and the Space Force staff badge on his left.Belushi TD wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 5:58 pm Heh.

I had the same when I was on NORAD HQ with the JS badge.

It looks like UK Space Command has gone for the subtler approach.

Re: Space force
Apparently. those are for the Chief of Space Operations (AKA GiC, Head Trekkie) only. The initial release of the uniforms was recently and they'll work through the summer on trials to see how well the new uniforms hold up for fit, finish, and comfort.Belushi TD wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 3:14 pm What. Why it's taken four years to get a uniform is beyond me. Maybe it's a symptom of typical DoD procurement. Maybe it's because the Space Force doesn't have a real mission, doesn't have real war fighting assets, and needs to fill the time of their officers. Maybe it's because they haven't sat down at Key West with the Air Force and Navy to decide who is actually barred from doing what yet.
And those aren't Star Trek communicators or IDIC symbols. They're the Space Force Delta, Globe, and Orbit, which resembles the Star Trek insignia by pure coincidence and is absolutely not related to Star Trek intellectual property in any way. We know that because the Space Force has had to issue repeated statements that they're in no way similar.

Wasn’t it the Enterprise emblem originally? TOS I mean!
Re: Space force
Matt Jeffries borrowed it from the Air Force. Lots of flight test units at Edwards used it.Craiglxviii wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 8:57 pm Wasn’t it the Enterprise emblem originally? TOS I mean!

Re: Space force
....Seen on Twitter:
Mike"The only purpose for military uniforms outside of actual work attire is to make everyone from the bootiest boot to the silliest ossifer look cool as hell.
Space Force was given a blank check to look sexy af...and tripped and fell into an open sewer on the way to cashing it."
