So Nimitz get a new life.

I thought Intrepid was already operational, partnered with CVW-16…

Matt, did the 83rd Mechanized Infantry Division which operated a battalion’s worth of T-72s Americanize them.

Yep, and not just American radios. All of the instruments were translated from Russian to English, the fire extinguisher system was modified to use Halon, and the crew seats had some padding installed to make the ride just a little bit more comfortable. While the fire-control system was NOT swapped out.

Does the Russian Republic have a space program?

Satellites only at present. They plan on restarting their human spaceflight program, but funding issues are a problem. Cosmonauts hitch a ride on NASA vehicles to the ISS and back, but they haven't flown a Soyuz since 1989-yes, they flew military Soyuz missions during the war to Mir.

Thank you. I guess that means that story regarding rescuing the cosmonauts off of Mir from, I think, either the OG thread or the first incarnation of this board to have Red Dawn +20 hosted, is still canon…

Were there any air drops during PRAIRIE FIRE?

No. Heliborne assaults, yes. (Look at the 11th Airborne on the first day in Albuquerque as an example, but there were others)

Matt a question before Wolfman comes in.

Did the 494th TFS operate from the UK regular ore when needed.

That’s a good question. That said, I think they staged through Lakenheath during the war, because during Sundown Goes to Sheppard, the 48th TFW is mentioned as flying out of Tinker AFB at that moment…

Prior to the war, Lakenheath was the home base for the 48th TFW, while the 20th TFW flew out of Upper Heyford…

The whole 48th TFW redeployed from Lakenheath to The States once the balloon went up. The base was used for SAC flights into European Russia during the war, and after? The 48th returned to Lakenheath, where it is today.

How the heck was Gibraltar invaded by the Soviets, something like how Iceland was invaded in Red Storm Rising with a merchant ship, also how did Spain respond to this with a not so friendly country now in control of Gibraltar.

This was discussed on a previous version of the board, but I don’t remember what was decided…

Then we have to wait to see what Bernhard has to say.

ISTR that Spain had a relatively sympathetic government in place, but not enough for Spain to actually have gone Red (more of a pink color)…

I think, but am not certain, that Spain was bribed to not respond by some vague promise about getting Gibraltar back after the war in some vague timeframe.

As far as the actual taking of the Rock from the Brits, I believe that it was a merchant vessel or three, along with a disguised transport. But, I may be confabulating this with a different universe.

I was against the idea at first, but was persuaded. It was a joint Soviet-Libyan invasion. Launched after a nasty D&V bug was planted in the territory’s water supply.
