I had wondered what on Earth that was. Comes from relying on someone else’s translation!

I had been meaning to verify that for some time now. It sounded a bit strange and I never made the connection until last night. And I worked in military intelligence for four yearsBernard Woolley wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 2:36 am I had wondered what on Earth that was. Comes from relying on someone else’s translation!
Anyway, apart from HUMINT, the Front Intel guys also gave initial assessment to captured enemy equipment. Most of their job actually took part not in the rear areas but rather close to the action immediately behind the front.

MI is famously known as a contradiction in terms.

I know. Nevertheless, it was the most interesting four years of my time in the navy. I was part of the "foreign naval potential" department and apart from the obvious, I also learned a lot of background info about the countries I worked on.
Same with my time in Kosovo. I went away from that with the conviction that that sorry excuse for a country should never have become independent. The whole "elite" of that country was and largely still is a bunch of organized crime kingpins, terroists and murderers, sometimes all three at once.
