For NATO, yes.
General Discussion thread.
Re: General Discussion thread.
Does anybody have a link to the Waybackmachine Yahoo Group, trying to find the Danish orbat, Netherlands orbat that where posted there.
Re: General Discussion thread.
Do you mean the navy ones? I'm pretty sure those are the only ones that were ever on the Yahoo! group.
Bernard and I both have the navy ones. But they have to be reformatted for message board posting.
I have the air force ones for both.
The Netherlands Army isn't a stand alone as such, but you can fine it in the NORTHAG ORBAT.
Bernard is letting me update the Danish pre-war ORBATS, so consider those not ready.
Re: General Discussion thread.

Re: General Discussion thread.
Well there is one for a torrent and one for a CDX file, both contain all the post made in the Yahoo Group, neither i can open.
Re: General Discussion thread.
Download the .warc.gz file
Go to ReplayWeb, load the .warc.gz file.
You can see the messages, sort of.
Is there is specific factfile/orbat you're hunting for, or just the discussion in general?
Re: General Discussion thread.
See if there is anything if interest there.
Re: General Discussion thread.
Question that's been stewing in my mind the last few days. It may go somewhere.
Once NATO declared a mobilization, they had eight days to get ready before the shooting started. How long would it take to wrangle merchant ships and start getting them where they needed to be? Specifically RO-ROs? I'm thinking more about the non-US ships.
Would the RFA's Point-class RO-ROs initially be tied up getting UK 2 Corps and UK Mobile Force to the Continent? Or would smaller ferries handle that job and the Points would set of for North America?
Thoughts?

Re: General Discussion thread - FRG Army
Multi part question re. the FRG Army.
1) In @, just what did the old Security Battalions assigned to the Corps Artillery Commands, and in general really, do? And how did they differ from Military Police?
2) I ask #1 above, because I recently learned about the Begleitbatterie (Escort Battery) within divisional artillery regiments or as part of Lance missile battalions.
3) What was the division of responsibility between the two?
#########################################################################################
Special Weapons Escort Companies / Escort Batteries
I've found mentions of Special Weapons Escort Companies (Sonderwaffenbegleitkompanien), but can find that term nowhere in the Dragoner ORBAT. What I have found are "Escort Batteries" (Begleitbatterie) within divisional artillery regiments or as part of Lance missile battalions. These were distinct from the Security Battalions or Special Weapons Supply Battalions. They appear to have been active duty units. They may have been called “batteries”, but appear to have been small infantry battalions in practice.
I know it's Wiki, but the KSK article makes it sound like while perhaps not "elite", or perhaps they were, they were at a minimum specialist infantry.
So when the tactical nukes go away after TLWverse 1997, what happens to these troops? Are they just absorbed into the MP and infantry because of demographics? Do some of them stick around to escort US chemical weapons? Or might they be re-purposed?
The reason I ask about re-purposing, is that in researching the South Korea ORBAT, I discovered that a lot of their "special forces" are more dedicated SOF Hunters. And I'm pretty sure that's the role of the Dutch commando battalion. Would the Heer see value in specialist counter-SOF/LRRP units - Kommandojäger?

Re: General Discussion thread.
The Divisional Security Battalion was to provide internal security for the division made up of recalled reservist of any MOS. So I guess Begleitbatterie does the same for the Divisional Artillery?
Is KSK a thing in TLW?
