Re: Anthropic’s new AI model turns to blackmail when engineers try to take it offline

A disturbing reality to me is even if AI won't spontaneously become self aware human idiots will deliberately make malicious AIs for everything from shit posting to making coordinated terrorist drone strikes on schools. It's only a matter of time.

Did you reload live ammo as well or just the blanks?

Re: PSA for HK G3 owners

Interesting the had a modification just to reduce damage to blank brass to make them easier to reload. Highlights frugal practical training.

The only good underwater action scene with sharks I can recall was Jackie Chan's first strike.

Honestly a unmanned afv seems likely in the near future, if we can deal with jamming and ew. (Just make the armored hunter killer machines autonomous...)

It sounds professionally done, I'm not qualified to say if it's accurate.

Re: The Chieftan on US Armored Force tank kills in Korea.

The higher fatality rate for the T34, presumably a combination of a poorer "OMG the tank is on fire" egress, and prehaps also due to the effects of the 90mm burster (the 90mm burster was probably too big and could compromise penetration at times but it probably did horrific damage when it ...

Re: Sherman assault gun (Playing with Grok)

I think that was the hetzer, which really is limiting, The Stug, honestly im seeing a lot of different sources online but it looks like about 10 degrees per side. A bigger deal for a attacking afv then a defending one, which is probably at least part of the reason there was limited interest in by th...

Re: Sherman assault gun (Playing with Grok)

In this context, a assault gun without a turret would benefit from that a lot, although the stug did fine without it.

One thing is if you limit it to Ford gaa engines you can use the lower hull of the m10 as the basis since you don't need a higher hull to accommodate the radial engine

Sherman assault gun (Playing with Grok)

I was bored and asked Grok to come up with a hypothetical afv for the US army in 1944 Historically the M36 was approved not as a tank destroyer per se, but the argument was the the 90mm would be highly effective against the heavier fortifications the US army expected to encounter, and indeed it was ...

Re: Hammer Horror as a Parable for Multimedia Universes

I liked the Dalton bond films, but he had bad timing, regarding the cold War, and it was just before secondary DVD and rentals could justify bigger budgets. Alien Romulus I actually enjoyed, but inconsistently. I liked some clever features it had, loved the actor playing Andy. The insistence on refe...

Re: Since it's that day again. . .

I've used Freetax USA for years, my return is moderately complex including tracking rental depreciation and investment gains etc. Colorado state is trivial, you just enter certain rows from you federal. Biggest time waste is collecting all the relevant reports.
