Great thread, although it appears the idea we fought the heavy tanks with aircraft doesn't seem well supported by recent evidence, by and large, German armor was thought by our armor, and sometimes we had a tough go of it.

Honestly I've noticed driving in general never fully recovered post COVID. Hard to pin down why but newer cars were automated safety features may let people use phones even more then they used to.

Not a bad guess, although if that's the case it's especially tragic, she should have had a lot more life. I've heard that the loss of a long term spouse can temporarily lead to extreme depression, to the point where sometimes a suicide watch can be called for.
