Re: Little bit toasty here
Yes but you could use the method of the Devils in Skirts of Carry On Up the Khyber to scare people into cooperating with you! I've ran worse arguments... Including one memorable one where I had to explain to a tribunal that Scotland was the realm of Angbad home of the Dark Lord Morgoth... While Spa...

Re: Little bit toasty here
Can you wear a kilt? They breathe well just when you need them to. Honestly I'm not sure. Never seen any lawyer in them... Anecdotal evidence appear to suggest that it has been done: Had a visiting lawyer from Glasgow representing his client in our court today who was very interested my black kilt/...

Re: Little bit toasty here
Commission summer weight suits and robes. Go for the lightest, most breathable fabric you can find that doesn’t look unprofessionally cheap. Won’t help today, but will be useful later in the year. That would work for the suits, although not the robes. Those are very traditional. Doubt there are lig...

Re: Little bit toasty here
I don't think judges like pithy comebacks. Depends on the judge... Some... Yeah they DON'T like it. Hell I was once thrown out of court and barred for life from ever appearing in court in front of a judge... So they can have a temper! Although in my defence on that one the Sheriff in question had j...

Re: Little bit toasty here
Might be better than a suit if you can wear something more comfortable underneath - the old graduation gown dodge. Same if you can get a lighter weight more breathable material. And there is the problem - that I have to wear a traditional suit under the robes! :D Commission summer weight suits and ...

Re: Little bit toasty here
Robes? Interesting. Even as a Court Registrar I wasn't robed, and of course I am not a barrister nor a magistrate or judge. Jonathan In court in Scotland all solicitors and advocates (and judges) have to wear black robes. I sort of like them I have to admit, but in this heat... no thank you. I don'...

Re: Little bit toasty here
I hate visiting the older hospitals and court buildings at the moment in full suit. Let alone when I have to wear my robes in court. The heat seems to just seep into those old buildings. Robes? Re: New Yorktown?
Ranger, Yorktown and Lexington would all be great names for future American carriers! I'm a sucker for the old names. Never thought the USS John C Stennis or USS Carl Vinson were well named frankly. I mean I get naming for presidents but senators? Particularly one with Stennis's record on civil righ...

Re: RN gun and missile test question
Deliberately or by accident? :D By accident. It was a Rocket Society job; they’d tried to launch from a golf course, except the Heddlu (police) turned up and after asking, “Ello Ello Ello, what’s occurin’ ‘ere then?”… they were instructed to take the whole kit & caboodle to Aberporth, where the...

Re: Trump and shoes
I don’t actually like Trump all that much. TDS isn’t real? Absolutely is. We’ve been living with (Current Republican President) Derangement Syndrome for decades. It manifests itself as overwhelming bias towards anything the (Current Republican President) does even when it’s the exact same thing a p...

I think you all have been scammed by a satire I think you are pretending it's satire rather than admit that the President of the United States is actually that ridiculous. And his cabinet are so spineless they won't even tell him the shoes are too big. Actually that's not fair, it's just Rubio so f...

Most clowns are very skilled entertainers, especially those who make it all look accidental... ( Happens I do not like clowns, but I *respect* them...) Trump seems unable to laugh at himself, only sneer at those he considers lesser folk. I must wonder about his opinion of cats... Fair point. And in...

Re: Trump and shoes
I saw a Ed Davey of the UK Liberal Democrat's being interviewed by an American news talk show make the joke "at least British politicians wear shoes that fit!"... But seriously is Trump's ego so fragile that Rubio couldn't just say "uhm they are a size too big Mr President." Eith...
