III. REINFORCEMENTS IN TRANSIT

NOTES
1) Theater Reserve – Kuwait Naval Base.
2) Forms third brigade in 1 (Aus) Div, reinforced by a Kuwaiti tank battalion. Renamed from 3rd Land Force Group, which was reformed back home.
3) Deployed by air to the United Arab Emirates pre-war to secure the POMCUS site designated for the 40th Infantry Division’s 2nd Brigade. Following that unit’s arrival, the 716th provided convoy escort north to the Kuwait border. Thereafter it provided convoy escort between Saudi ports to forward depots in Kuwait.
4) The 2-102nd Infantry was assigned to the Multinational Force and Observers in the Sinai Peninsula pre-war. Moved by air to Saudi Arabia on D+3 to secure the port of Jubail for the arrival of prepositioning ships from Diego Garcia carrying the equipment for the 40th Infantry Division’s 3rd Brigade. Thereafter moved into Kuwait to provide rear area security for X Corps.
5) Provides security for Naval Support Activity Bahrain and Sheik Isa AB.
6) Pre-war unit that controlled rotational SEAL platoons and SBU detachments.
7) Aboard ship to support CSAR missions.
8) The 2nd Battalion, RNZIR was formed from the Territorial Force battalions of the 3rd Land Force Group. The battalion group was equipped with stored M113 upgraded to A3 standard. 32 Battery replaced its L16A2 81mm mortars with Hamel Guns supplied by Australia, and was detached to the DAG.
9) Redeployed from Southern Africa.
10) Provisional US Task Force organized to rescue foreign diplomats and citizens from the Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad, Pakistan. Under direct control of CINCCENT. Mission now concluded.

III. ROYAL SAUDI AIR FORCE
[The Royal Saudi Air Force closely coordinates with 9th Air Force/CENTAF, but is not subordinate to it. The RSAF conducts strikes into Iraq and Kuwait and flies combat air patrols to protect allied tanker and AWACS aircraft. RSAF squadrons also provide combat air patrols over the Red Sea in conjunction with the Egyptian Air Force to protect allied convoys. The RSAF also conducts combat operations against Yemen in conjunction with Omani forces and French forces based in Djibouti.]


IV. GULF COOPERATION COUNCIL
[Not committed to combat, but the air forces of Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE do carry out defensive combat air patrols to protect Allied bases.]
