Just a 'heads up' that said mail-order people have just introduced a 'new, improved' payment verification / validation system.

But, sorta forgot to make it logical, self-explanatory, painlessly transitional, 'User Friendly' etc etc etc.
So, less 'UF ', more 'WTF ???'

And that's a fair chunk of this evening gone, gone, gone...

As a former Coder, I could weep at the sheer clunkiness of the 'fumble through' required, with bank and SMS apps 'timing out' left and right like a 'Music Hall' turn spinning plates atop canes until there were just too many and 'fall over' began...

Fortunately, none of the order was wanted before the holiday break.
In fact, I'd deliberately hung on to make it so...

Yes, yes, 2330 local (UTC) but, if I don't get a mug of 'Builders Tea' soonest, I'm so gonna SCREAM !!!

Is this a UK or EU only system? I helped my mom order a bunch of crap recently and saw nothing unusual, nor did I experience any issues that were not directly related to me forgetting to change the payment from my card to my moms.

Last week was okay, except for the 'Age Verification' thing, so requested 'garden lopper' must wait for 'New Year'.

Last night was an exercise in anger management...

I'm UK based and made Amazon orders yesterday and today without any issues - no new system here. Maybe they're doing the "roll it out to a small selection of customers turning them into unsuspecting beta testers" thing.

So what was this new process?

Had to re-validate preferred bank card.
Bank to send SMS with OTP.

Among other clunkies, Amazon would not actually request SMS sending until the following page. So, you're sat waiting for SMS to arrive, but Amazon has not yet requested bank to send it...
