The Gorge

Post by Micael »

The Gorge is a very watchable scifi horror-actionthriller movie starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy with Sigourney Weaver in a supporting role. The horror elements are pretty lovecraftian and the whole premise is novel and I think well executed. I see that critics have been moderately enthusiastic over it, and I think that this is misleading. It’s not the single greatest movie ever made but within its genre it’s among the more interesting that I’ve watched.

A brief description of the premise without spoiling too much: Two elite snipers gets tasked with guarding a mysterious gorge for a year, one on each side of it. One sniper comes from the west, one from the east. The secret it holds within is of the terrifying kind.

So two question, how did the British/American/Soviet scientist build the missiles seen in the movie, the look more advance than a V2 and what kind of Bio weapon where they working on.

Perhaps it is one of those mysteries of the universe that we are not yet deemed worthy to grasp.

Not bad. Only thing I wish was the the Big Bad was something really Lovecraftian. What it really was almost pedestrian.
Westray: That this is some sort of coincidence. Because they don't really believe in coincidences. They've heard of them. They've just never seen one.

Did you ever see Underwater? Not a bad unapologetic monster flick.

Yes I did and yes I saw who the big BIG bad was at the end! :D

"Deep Rising" was another good one. So over the top is was fun! Especially Treat Williams "Now what?!"

I miss those monster movies, I was so bummed when underwater did poorly at the box office. Optimisticaly maybe the decline of mega budgeted movies will produce a return of modest budget horror flicks like that.
