On Sunday 23 Feb 2025 Mike and I visited the Marine Corps Museum at Quantico. They had the first flag on display with the second one. I was astonished by the condition of the first flag. Granted it wasn't up very long but they had to carry it up and down that hill.

The landing beaches are now 50 feet higher then in 1945 and there is a huge amount of new beach front around the island.
Westray: That this is some sort of coincidence. Because they don't really believe in coincidences. They've heard of them. They've just never seen one.

Lots of shipwrecks from the landings are no longer underwater. Interesting watching geology in action!
