A boat rescue video with a happy outcome

Perhaps we need something a bit more positive around here, so here’s a video of some of the crew of the charter super yacht Loon going on a jolly rescue run to save an uncrewed sailboat that broke free from anchor and was heading for rocks, it’s covered in about the first ten minutes of this video:

As someone who enjoys boating I find it a heartwarming little story. Good job on the part of the crew, and good spirits.

Well an unexpected twist now as there’s big drama surrounding the MY Loon featuring in the above video. They had a very serious accident with one of their tenders on December 21st at Saint Barthélemy in the Caribbean.

Six people were reportedly injured, one fairly seriously. Said to have got her face smashed in and teeth knocked out. She was transported to Miami for further treatment.

A large number of crew members have reportedly resigned after the accident. The rumor mill is saying that it’s due to the Captain, Paul, being the one driving the tender whilst under the influence of alcohol and then trying to talk some others into taking the fall for him and say that they were the ones driving. Spicy.
