Salt Lake City had considered trying to do an "all-in" package of both the Winter Olympics of 2034 and the Summer Games of 2036, but organizers decided against that, and only did the Winter games. Word has it Seattle is trying to do that for the 2036 and 2038 games...

One advantage the Summer Games have, you can use University stadiums and housing for the Games.

Alma-Alta? How? Correct me if my geography is off, but isn't that deep within the former USSR?
And I see my hometown gets shafted out of the Olympics once again

Houston keeps bidding for the Summer Games. I'm rather happy they haven't gotten it. Since I'm retired, I can get out of town for it.

It is named Almaty now and is the capital of Kazakhstan.
(OOC: The USSR did break up in the aftermath of WW3, right? I am going out on a limb and suggest that TTL's Kazakhstan is a lot less problematic than the one in @ and that the government did not change/move the capital to Almaty (which means "capital"
))

OOC: Yes, the Soviet Union broke up as a result of the Second Russian Civil War, Kazakhstan is Independent, along with the other 'Stans. OTL they were the only other bidder, other than Beijing for the '22 Winter Olympics, so here, they got it as Beijing TTL is slag (still slightly radioactive).

Didn’t Argentina get banned for a few Olympic Games after the war? And I’m pretty sure that FIFA’s not exactly happy about their in-game conduct, either…

They were banned from the World Cup a couple of times, but not the Olympics.

Argentina's national football team is a bunch of kicking, scratching, headbutting, playacting prima donnas. Always has been, always will be. I dislike them more than Italy‘s and England‘s national teams.
(Both IC and OOC
)
