I think that's what happened to my Dad. Covid made him stop getting around as much and when he got it, things went downhill from there.

...FWIW, my Dad retired from NASA in '03 (just before the Columbia accident) and kept working - he had a pretty solid sideline doing 3D drawings of auto accident scenes. He managed to put a couple people in jail, and cost David Letterman almost half a million dollars, and he kept doing the work until the damned Parkinson's got to the point where he couldn't do the work any more.

On the other hand, our family tradition is that you pretty much work until you can't. I'm walking away from Valmont in 1606 days, and I'm still going to get something part time because I can't imagine just not working, and also because The Fair Melissa wouldn't put up with it for too long.

I did some recalculating a little while ago and discovered I was off a week…about 308 right now. I’m retiring on the last working day of the last pay period of FY 2023, the party is still on FY New Year eve (30 Sept2023)
