Explosion at US Weapons Manufacturing Facility in Arkansas Injures Two, One Missing
A spokesperson for General Dynamics confirmed that two people were injured and one person is missing following an explosion this morning at its Arkansas weapons facility. The explosion, related to “pyrotechnics” or explosives, occurred around 8:15 a.m., according to spokesperson Berkley Whaley.
The US facility is involved in the Hellfire and Javelin missile programs for the U.S. military, among other munitions projects.
A local Judge, Floyd Nutt, mentioned that county personnel were initially not allowed on the premises by General Dynamics for unknown reasons. He described the incident as a major event, noting that it was the first of its kind at the plant, which handles warheads and explosives.
