Sometimes...

I do not have a lap-top or smart-phone.
Okay, my desk's CAD_PC has four (4) sizeable displays plus an under-slung mini_me for render BOX status, but...
Anyhow, occurred to me that being able to read bar or QR codes could be useful.
So, last year, I got a cheap 2D reader.
Snag, its sheet with configuration codes was so badly reproduced to be mostly illegible.
( A bar-code reader that could not read supplied set-up sheet ?? That's sad... )
Turns out the importer's warehouse had not even one reader with a legible sheet, nor the URL for an on-line set.
Oops...
Told to keep / dispose widget, 'Please accept full refund.'
Eventually got a nice 1D/2D gun with stand and full instructions....
Today, needed a QR URL code reading in a hurry.
Could I find that 'gun' ??
No, only the non-configurable one.
{Sigh...}
Plug it in, point PC cursor at Chrome address field, wave urgent QR code--
Reader shouted at me !! I think was an Asian dialect, but such low band-width it could have been Mackem or Geordie...
To my surprise, Chrome accepted the URL and I could urgently renew an essential licence...
Who'd have thought ??
