Music for Stories
Since each story is kind of like a movie in a way, there should be a thread for appropriate music as the story's soundtrack. First off would be what I would want for BOLO II. As the crews are in that mad dash to their aircraft, mounting up, taxiing out and taking off, as well as when they go down the chute onto the target. The movie was well, meh... but Jerry Goldsmith does a great soundtrack. Not as good as the Master, John Williams, but he's pretty close.

The difference between diplomacy and war is this: Diplomacy is the art of telling someone to go to hell so elegantly that they pack for the trip.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.
War is bringing hell down on that someone.

Re: Music for Stories
Keith Loggins’ Danger Zone is a given. It’s almost obligatory for the staging of aircraft.
Same with Kate Bush’s Running up that Hill.
Pepper in a lot of 80s hits. Duran Duran, Madonna, Bon Jovi. Even some ABBA.
But you also need some angsty country. Goodnight, Texas, Uncle Lucius, etc. Rich Men North of Richmond is too new, but that vibe is what you’re trying to tap into. We’re angry we have to kill poor damn Russkie boys and we’re angry we are losing good American boys - because we can’t kill the motherfuckers who started this goddamn shitstorm and are too damn proud to admit they fucked up and end it.

Kenny Loggins, you mean...
Anything on the Iron Eagle soundtrack would be a given.

Yes.
Yes. You can also pull a lot from the 1987 Top 100 Soundtrack. Walk like an Egyptian, Wang Chung, La Bamba, etc.
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme is Kara Thrace’s anthem.
But you need a few songs to punch up the rage.
Re: Music for Stories
There’s a couple of tracks from 1990’s Memphis Belle that would work well for specific scenes in BOLO II…

Re: Music for Stories
A very appropriate one. This would be the opening theme, with Jerry Goldsmith's Capricorn One theme for the Elephant Walk and launch. And the roll-in onto the target.

If we ever do a story about the Chinese in WWIII, this track from Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie would be suitable for the Chinese attempt at nuclear retaliation against the Soviets:

Re: Music for Stories
If you want to get a bit angsty and apocalyptic, Nena's "99 Luftballons" is almost a meme by now.
Paul Hardcastle "Nineteen". It deals with the Vietnam war, but the sentiment is timeless. A grunt's tale would be most appropriate for it to play in the background.
"Camouflage" by Stan Ridgway.
"Ghost Riders in the Sky" is particularly apt for mechanized nighttime assaults.

"Archangel" by Two Steps From Hell is how I visualize Sophie Lodge in full battle mode.

Two Steps From Hell specializes in music for movie and tv show trailers, so their stuff gets licensed a lot.
