The Machine Stops
Basically take the last half of Wall E, and rewrite it in Edwardian English, and then break the spaceship (if I've got Wall E wrong I'm not surprised). It was written as a dystopian reaction to an optimistic HG Wells story.
Much more readable than HG, if not as exciting as WoW.
