ST: DISCOVERY Final Season....

...Well...the first two eps dropped yesterday, and on the whole it was pretty good.
Starts off at a party where Captain Burnham gets a discreet call to find a cosmic McGuffin that has Fallen Into The Wrong Hands, and the fun starts from there. There are some genuinely nice moments, and a chase setpiece that IMHO is one of the best things Disco has done. We get to meet a new StarFleet captain who has an even bigger attitude problem than Burnham did at the start, and friends from earlier in the series come back as part of the team again.
The writing is pretty good - the interactions between the characters so far are natural and most importantly believable. My only quibble is that some of the various deus ex machina that the writers allowed are getting one hell of a workout, and they still can't resist giving Burnham a noble speech (or three). Overall though, I'd give it a 3.5 out of five so far.
