...Happy New Year to all my family here. It was a quiet one here; we're both down with some kind of cold (definitely not the 'vid) and we were in bed by 9. Did wake up at midnight when the locals turned loose the artillery; The Fair Melissa said it sounded like a combat zone, I replied that I've BEEN in a combat zone and it was quieter.

The usual fireworks...and then a really big blast that rattled the windows HARD and set off four different car alarms about a block away.

No. I just hope any fire was out before the FD arrived. No point having them risk injury.

Not in any way at all. If you can’t laugh at someone else’s misfortune… you’ve never served in the armed forces.

As for the celebrations here...lets just say there was a lot of full auto fire. More than usual.
One of which was impressively loud. And too close for comfort.
