They spent some time laughing at current Russian subs saying they are old crap that can't do anything against modern western hardware. Also underlined how modern AIP subs are the only threat and even US nuke subs are by now much easier to detect and acquire. Very interesting tour

They claimed that US decision on FFG(x) program (Italian / French FREM design) was specifically due to this ship and how US staff got on board for sea tests and was amazed about how well they could track US subs.

A little more details on the Russian tracking: at first Russians did everything they could to get rid of the Italian shadow but absolutely nothing worked, they gave up at some point and stopped trying. Crew claimed they could track the sub with no issues at > 120 NM from it.
Where/ with whom has the MM been training to get so good at ASW? I understood that the refugee crisis had been sucking up their operating budget for years.
