So Ive started to look at the used boxster market. As a new england resident Im looking at a 3 season car. Off the road with the first application of road salt. Not back on until its all gone in the spring. Manual for sure. Not too particular about color.

Im finding that these cars get bought and sold quite a bit. Proper maintenance seems to be key.
Ive found there are groupings
986
987
981
718 - unaffordable

so with that in mind, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the car

Some good advice in the attachment. If not properly watered and fed over the years Porsches can get expensive - so a full service history and a professional pre purchase inspection.

Other than that the Boxster/Cayman platform is an excellent driver's car. I did find it strange that early models had a plastic rear window...I'd go for a glass window with a demister function. Also try to get a roof that is in good condition. The quoted replacement price seems a little optimistic to me.

If you do get one, follow the RDWP acronym - roof down whenever possible! I am on my third two seat convertible and there is something special about top down motoring.

...Follow-up question: are Porsches robust enough to be daily drivers?
