As I mentioned in another thread the Eagle is currently visiting Stockholm. I took the opportunity to go aboard her today, and it was fun to get to have a look around such a fine ship. Seemed like they were taking on new crew as a whole lot of people arrived with bags as I was there.
The current crew seemed to be in a good mood and friendly, and the ship seemed to be in good condition for her age. Hope they can keep her running for many years more. I’ll see about trying to post some photos later.
Have to admit it felt weird being aboard the same ship as Hitler once was, but I guess that that’s a potential conversation starter in the future.
USCGC Eagle

So if World War III ever hits, can she be armed as a merchant cruiser.
Re: USCGC Eagle
Her sister, Gorch Fock (II), had a mine laying capability during the Cold War. In all likelihood, she would have dropped a bunch of mines in the Neustadt Bight or somewhere between Kiel and Fehmarn and then hightailed it to somewhat safer waters.Lordroel wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 10:53 amWait, i toughed USCGC Eagle was transported back into time, Nantucket series of books by S.
